Ozen Zanmai at The Gardens

Hi everyone. =)

Today's review is Ozen Zanmai.

Wonder why it has a similar name to Sushi Zanmai and Pasta Zanmai? Yep, they are all under the same company.

Let me tell you the differences between these 3 shops.

Sushi Zanmai sells mainly sushi, some ramen, udon, and rice. It doesn't have set meals or bento.

Pasta Zanmai is a fusion of Japanese and Western cuisines. For example, you will find sushi rolls that are made with tortilla skin instead of rice, pasta with ebi tempura, and many more.

This Ozen Zanmai sells mainly bento and also some sushi.

The look of the place. It's a kiosk-like place, just like the Sushi Zanmai outlet at 1 Utama.

Their menu. As you can see, it's all bento.

In this page, each set contains either noodles and rice or noodles and sushi. If you want to enjoy both sushi and noodles or both noodles and rice, this is a good choice. It's also worth it as 2 people can actually share 1 set.

If I'm not mistaken, this is Salmon Tataki Salada, RM15.80. It looks nice.

My ebidon bento, RM19.80. It came with appetizers and desserts, soup, and chawanmushi.

The rice was lack of sauce and I had to add some sweet sauce to it. Ebi (prawns) was okay, not crunchy enough.

The weirdest thing in this bento is that sup like thing (the one with a carrot in it). It looked and tasted like soup and there was a piece of winter melon but if it was a soup, then why the amount was so pathetic?

I liked the green tea and red bean jelly. Though it was not very special but I just love anything sweet haha.

This chawanmushi (steam egg) was so so only, probably because I'm not a fan of steam egg. I prefer fry egg or scramble egg.

Salmon mentaiyaki bento, RM22.80. The mentai sauce was a bit watery, not dry enough.

Yakiniku (beef) bento, RM19.80.

Chicken gyoza (chicken and vegetable dumpling), RM10.80. It was okay.

When we arrived, there was plenty of empty seats but when we left, there were people queuing up at the entrance.

Probably because the price is reasonable (I feel that most of the time, bento is very expensive). Can try it out if you have no idea what to eat while you are at The Gardens or Mid Valley.
